Once you have a passport and have chosen your destination, you may want to contact that country’s embassy for information and brochures. An embassy is the home of the country’s ambassador, whose job is to create positive political and diplomatic relations between his country and the host country.

This site provides an alphabetical listing of all the embassies located in Washington, D.C., as well as their addresses, telephone, and fax numbers. Each embassy has its own page, and many have photos as well as links to the embassy’s web site, the corresponding consulate web sited, and occasionally the country’s trade and tourism offices.
