On this page, Chris Witcombe of Sweet Briar College makes interesting connections about pi, from Egyptian scrolls to DNA. In addition, it is easy to link from here to some beautiful pages about Stonehenge through the 'Earth Mysteries: Introduction' link at the bottom of the page. Is there a reason that a group of the stones in Stonehenge looks like the pi symbol? Some people think there is some mystical connection between this and the fact that the stones are arranged in a circle. If you check out the Stonehenge pages you can make up your mind yourself about the matter. Keep in mind, though, that the first use of this symbol for pi was in 1706 by William Jones. Ah, but he was Welsh, perhaps that has something to do with it.
